To teach - which I do - is to make yourself authoritative, yet vulnerable, insightful, yet open to be doubted, all the time, even when you're right. It's really difficult when you're young, self-conscious, and unsure of yourself, because you're up in front of students who aren't that much younger than me. If I were their age, I would be invisible to them, like I was to my peers in high school.

Nevertheless, to get things done, I have to do them, no matter what other people think of me as I'm parading around doing them. That is none of my business. I have to remember that only I can do what I do around here.
