Pin ItHappy Saturday!! I hope you are having a great weekend!! The weather is perfect here...sunny and 72 :) I have a winner to announce for the Fiskars stamp set from Chriss's Birthday Blog Hop, but first, I have some cards to share with you. A very dear friend asked if I could make some cards to give to cancer patients in her area and I'm so happy that I could do this for her.

Because I was making quite a few cards in a short period of time, they aren't super-embellished. Instead, I tried to chose papers that wouldn't need much embellishment. The paper on the left is from Prima Marketing's Printery Collection. The frame is a Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Square, followed by a Classic Square Large. The quote is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. The branch is a Spellbinders Mix'd Media Elements die inked with Tea Dye distress ink, and the bird is a Bird Sanctuary die. On the right, the paper is Pink Paislee London Market. The frame is a Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight, followed by a Labels Eight. The sentiment is also from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. The flower is a Spellbinders Rose Creation die and the gem swirl is from Recollections.

The paper for both of these cards is from Pink Paislee Spring Jubilee. I can't remember where the embellishments on the left are from. The sentiment is also from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set. "Faith" is a Spellbinders Girlie Grunge Label. The pennant on the right is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant die, inked with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. The butterfly is a Spellbinders Fanciful Flight die, inked with Victorian Velvet, adorned with crystal gems and popped up with foam tape for dimension.

For these two cards, I used embossing to add detail. The folder on the left is a Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers embossing folder, and on the right a Cuttlebug African Batik folder, sponged with Tea Dye Distress Ink to bring out the pattern. The frame on the left is a Spellbinders Floral Oval die, followed by a Classic Ovals Large, embossed with Swiss Dots. The flower is a Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms die. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. The label on the left is a Spellbinders Labels Five, followed by a Labels Eighteen in Prima Printery paper. The top label is a Spellbinders Grommet Tags Die, attached with black brads. The sentiment is from K Andrew Designs Scripture Sayings stamp set.

This is a 2 day hop and the line up will be different each day. Please start HERE today (9/22) and tomorrow (9/23), so we can send you in the right direction!!
Our first "Well Owl Be" Blog Hop went over so well, we decided to do an owl themed hop 4 times a year!! Our next hop will be right before Christmas and we hope you will come back and join us then, too!!
One grand prize winner will win a Cricut cartridge and a stamp set sponsored by Erica's Craft Room!! Thank you, Erica, you are so generous!! Please be a follower and leave a comment at all of the stops in the hop for the chance to win. There will also be other blog candy along the way!!

For my project, I created a canvas Halloween wall hanging. I didn't know where I was going with this, so I didn't take pictures or write down all the ingredients, but I'll try to remember. The background paper is from Me and My Big Ideas Spiders and Bats Mambi Stack. I used a small paper plate for the shape of the full moon and spritzed the canvas with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Peach Delight. Once it dried, Spiced Marmalade and Wild Honey Distress Inks were added. The moon was inked with Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw Distress Inks. Crackle Medium was randomly applied around the canvas and then inked with Spiced Marmalade once it dried and cracked. The edges were covered in stencil paste and painted black once it dried. I wanted it to look like spider webs, so once the paint dried, I used an Adirondack Paint Dabber in Snow Cap. "Halloween", "Boo", "Spooky" and the bats are from K Andrew Designs Fall-O-Ween stamp set. Click HERE to purchase this set.

The owl is a Spellbinder's Nested Owl die. It was cut twice and then the top of his head, wings and feet were cut out. The eyes are a combination of Spellbinders Beaded Circle dies, Circle dies and punches. The edge of the Beaded Circle die was used to give feather definition to the wings with a Distress Marker in Peeled Paint, and then they were attached with foam tape.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Thankful Thursday Halloween or fall colors or an owl or all
  2. Sunday Funday - Linky Party
I have blog candy!!

All you have to do to win this set of Cloud 9 Designs Halloween Rubber Stamps is:

Pin ItHappy Hump Day!! I am having so much trouble transitioning from vacation mode back to crafty mode...I fear my mojo is still on the road :) But I have a card I wanted to share with you today for my sweet blogging buddy Naomi's (Creative Bug on the Loose) son, Michael. Michael is autistic and will soon be having surgery on both of his feet. Naomi asked for cards to share with her son. I encourage you to please make a card for Michael. For more information and to read about his amazing story, click HERE.

For Michael's card, I wanted to use a race car, but of the over 100 carts I have, no race car!! How is that possible?? This car is from Paper Doll Dress Up and I think it's supposed to be a super hero car but I thought passable for a race car. Since the card is for a boy and I can't add my usual bling, I used sparkly paper instead, from Core'dinations Core Couture line. The stars on the tail fin are from K Andrew Designs Crafty Friends stamp set, and "Gnarley" is from Guy Talk. The checkered paper is from the Paper Studio. The base and checkered layer were cut with Spellbinders Grand Rectangles dies. The labels for the sentiment are Spellbinders Labels Ten dies. "You're awesome" is from K Andrew Designs Food For Thought stamp set. Click HERE to purchase any of these sets. The ribbon is from Something to Celebrate, the layers adhered with foam tape for dimension. The #1 and Michael are stickers. When I make cards for kids, I like to add an interactive element so the ribbon has a pin attached to the back so he can wear his ribbon whenever he wants.

My inspiration for the card was the Indy 500, so you can imagine how excited I was when I spotted this set of race cars in the store!! I thought they would be perfect to include with the card :)

I am entering this into the following challenges:
  1. DL.Art Thankful Thursday Challenge - Linky Party
  2. Sunday Funday #2 - Linky Party
I  hope you are all having a wonderful week!! Hopefully my mojo will return soon and I'll have more projects to share!! Thanks so much for stopping by today :)

You Will Rise Above This...

Pin ItHappy Friday, everyone!! Woo-hoo, the weekend is here!! I hope you have fun plans :) For the next couple of weeks, most of the posts on my blog will be Halloween-related, but I wanted to slip this card for a friend who is going through a hard time in before I start.

The base is a Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Rectangle, followed by a Grand Rectangle embossed with the Cuttlebug Plum Blossom embossing folder.

The ribbon is from May Arts, the button and hemp fiber from my stash. The inside red frame is a Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight.

A music background was stamped onto white cardstock with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The flower is a Tim Holtz Stamp, inked with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. It was then cut out with a Spellbinders Labels Eight and inked with Tea Dye Distress Ink. The label is a Spellbinders Nested Pennant Die, the edges inked with Tea Dye. The sentiment, stamped in Aged Mahogany, is from K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set:

Hey everyone! Another Monday and as always GREAT projects..... I would love to have some projects the really interest you. I am about to post the themes for the Design Team for November.... I would love suggestions and ideas of the themes you would like to see.  I have not yet picked the giveaway for October.... My basement flooded last night and all of my personal crafting items were down there..... Including my Imagine machine which has 2" of water that was sitting in it.... Boy has it been a rough year for me....  but all that means is that is HAS TO get better, right? Anyway, I would love suggestions here with theme ideas.... Also PLEASE make sure that you visit the Design Team's blogs, your wonderful comments encourage them to keep sharing with all of us!  I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Tomorrow is Picture day at Bella's school and I have volunteered to take the kids from the classrooms to the gym and make sure that their hair is perfect!  I had her Open House Friday at school and it was so great!!! I really enjoyed getting to meet the other parents of her favorite friends. She is 4 and is in Pre-K and has a little friend, who is a boy and she talks about him ALL the time. I was then talking with one of the other moms and we were all wanting to meet this little boy's parents..... it turns out the shy little boy has all of the little girls in love with him....  It's always the quiet ones.....    We finally found his parents and his dad seemed awfully proud of him....  That's a dad for you!
