Anastasia,
I found this comment but I clicked on your blogger profile and have no way of contacting you.....

Hello! My name is Anastasia and i am from Greece! As i have seen you're a cricut expert! I bought cricut expression 2 last week and i would like to work via the ccr but it is impossible. I downloaded the application on my pc but when i make a project and press the cut button i receive a message saying "no usable devices are available". I read that maybe my machine needs a firmware update. I downloaded cricut sync software but i received the same message again. It seems like my pc doesn't recognize my cricut! I used every port of my computer, i downloaded usb drivers, i have done everything but nothing... Do you have any idea how i could resolve this problem or you know a site where i could find any informations about? i visit cricut official site but i didn't find anything...  Thanks a lot! on Wednesday December 26, 2012 Card Creating WEDNESDAY – National Thank You Day, Thank you cards.

I would love to help you..... We can message on Facebook one day or email. I am also about to start my Ustream classes for Cricut help next week. I will have 3+ tutorials each week to help all of you.  I know Cricut Craft Room has given a few people some trouble. But once it is explained once I think it will make sense and then seem very easy to you (at least I hope so)

My email is ContactErica@aol.com please put the subject of Anastasia so I know it is from you.

Also I am no expert I just share my mistakes and hope someone learns from them.....
Make sure that Cricut Sync and Cricut Craft Room are NOT open at the same time. They use the same driver and it causes problems, so only use one at a time. Craft Room usually knows if your machine is properly updated or not.

Mary used fonts from Winter Wonderland, Calligraphy Collection, Paper Lace and Home Accents for her project today. You can find the details on her blog http://mary-fortheloveofart.blogspot.com/2013/01/vinyl-friends-and-family-glass-block.html

Robin used Cricut Keystone to make her project.  Head on over to her blog to see more details.http://cutonedesignsbyrobin.blogspot.com/2013/01/wyegw-january-2-2013-use-various-fonts.html

Somehow this project was missed on yesterday's post!

Tami created this festive New Year's card using Celebrate with Flourish and Lacy Labels carts. To see how she made this please visit her blog at: http://www.scrappinrabbitdesigns.blogspot.com/

Here is what I am working on for you.....Have you ever wondered what each font looks like from various Cricut Cartridges..... Well I am making you a help guide :) Here is just a sample of it .......and below that some more font help from a tutorial from the past.....

Here is the old tutorial...
Someone asked about creating a shadow for an item. They wanted to know if they are cutting at 4" for they need to make the shadow larger. I would love to quickly explain this.... I will also tell you what real dial size is, in the process.First real dial size, what is it and when to use it.The Cricut is automatically set with real dial size OFF. What this means is that your Cricut will AUTOMATICALLY make your items proportional to your finished size image. So if you are making Mickey Mouse, I always cut my characters at 4" otherwise the eyes and everything is WAY TOO SMALL. I cut them all at 4" because I will cut a full sheet of each piece. I then keep them in a baggie labeled. So the next time I want one of them, I already have many of the pieces needed. Instead of putting each color of paper each time, and cutting only one from it, then I end up with paper with missing pieces and then they get caught on each other in my scrap drawers.... so I just cut a full sheet of it and then throw the little bit of scraps away.
I used crazy colors for the tutorial I will refer to each layer by the color.
Here is the finished die cut....

Here are all of the individual colors. I have the size set to 4"The cricut knows to make each item proportional to the finished 4" size. You dont have to do anything, it does it on it's own.

Now this is Real Dial Size ON.... instead of proportionally. The cuts each item at the REAL size. This is helpful if you want a title or image to be large. In this example if I wanted the star at 4" it would do it. But if I wanted the words at 4" to use for a title or something, I would have to turn REAL DIAL SIZE ON. Then it will cut in the REAL size that I want. Each item here is 4" so you can see how different it is

Here is how i would cut the images out and use a full sheet of card stock and have some of the die cut ready for the next time I need it.

Do you have trouble with adhesive on the tiny little pieces that the cricut cuts??Here is what I do.... I FLIP the image (s) cut it and while it is still on the cutting mat, I apply my adhesive with a tape runner. Then I remove the excess paper around the words then I just use my tweezers and pick up the small pieces already with adhesive on them. Here is the images flipped

Here are the words with the shadow feature on the cartridge. But what if your cartridge does not have a shadow?

If it does not have a shadow feature...... here is what most people do.... They cut the words at 4" and then again at 4 1/4" but as you see below it doesn't work very well....

If it does not have a shadow and you don't want it to look weird.... Cut 2 of the image out at the SAME SIZE. Then the bottom of the two images, move slightly left or right and then slightly up or down. Depending on which direction you want the shadow to show.

From the advice column, Dear Sugar, #64:
Dear Sugar,
I read your column religiously. I’m 22. From what I can tell by your writing, you’re in your early 40s. My question is short and sweet: what would you tell your 20-something self if you could talk to her now?
Love,

Seeking Wisdom
Dear Seeking Wisdom,
Stop worrying about whether you’re fat. You’re not fat. Or rather, you’re sometimes a little bit fat, but who gives a shit? There is nothing more boring and fruitless than a woman lamenting the fact that her stomach is round. Feed yourself. Literally. The sort of people worthy of your love will love you more for this, sweet pea.
In the middle of the night in the middle of your twenties when your best woman friend crawls naked into your bed, straddles you, and says, You should run away from me before I devour you, believe her.
You are not a terrible person for wanting to break up with someone you love. You don’t need a reason to leave. Wanting to leave is enough. Leaving doesn’t mean you’re incapable of real love or that you’ll never love anyone else again. It doesn’t mean you’re morally bankrupt or psychologically demented or a nymphomaniac. It means you wish to change the terms of one particular relationship. That’s all. Be brave enough to break your own heart.
There are some things you can’t understand yet. Your life will be a great and continuous unfolding. It’s good you’ve worked hard to resolve childhood issues while in your twenties, but understand that what you resolve will need to be resolved again. And again. You will come to know things that can only be known with the wisdom of age and the grace of years. Most of those things will have to do with forgiveness. When that really sweet but fucked up gay couple invites you over to their cool apartment to do ecstasy with them, say no.
One evening you will be rolling around on the wooden floor of your apartment with a man who will tell you he doesn’t have a condom. You will smile in this spunky way that you think is hot and tell him to fuck you anyway. This will be a mistake for which you alone will pay.
Don’t lament so much about how your career is going to turn out. You don’t have a career. You have a life. Do the work. Keep the faith. Be true blue. You are a writer because you write. Keep writing and quit your bitching. Your book has a birthday. You don’t know what it is yet.
You cannot convince people to love you. This is an absolute rule. No one will ever give you love because you want him or her to give it. Real love moves freely in both directions. Don’t waste your time on anything else.
Most things will be okay eventually, but not everything will be. Sometimes you’ll put up a good fight and lose. Sometimes you’ll hold on really hard and realize there is no choice but to let go. Acceptance is a small, quiet room.
One hot afternoon during the era in which you’ve gotten yourself ridiculously tangled up with heroin you will be riding the bus and thinking what a worthless piece of crap you are when a little girl will get on the bus holding the strings of two purple balloons. She’ll offer you one of the balloons, but you won’t take it because you believe you no longer have a right to such tiny beautiful things. You’re wrong. You do.
Your assumptions about the lives of others are in direct relation to your naïve pomposity. Many people you believe to be rich are not rich. Many people you think have it easy worked hard for what they got. Many people who seem to be gliding right along have suffered and are suffering. Many people who appear to you to be old and stupidly saddled down with kids and cars and houses were once every bit as hip and pompous as you.
When you meet a man in the doorway of a Mexican restaurant who later kisses you while explaining that this kiss doesn’t “mean anything” because, much as he likes you, he is not interested in having a relationship with you or anyone right now, just laugh and kiss him back. Your daughter will have his sense of humor. Your son will have his eyes.
The useless days will add up to something. The shitty waitressing jobs. The hours writing in your journal. The long meandering walks. The hours reading poetry and story collections and novels and dead people’s diaries and wondering about sex and God and whether you should shave under your arms or not. These things are your becoming.
One Christmas at the very beginning of your twenties when your mother gives you a warm coat that she saved for months to buy, don’t look at her skeptically after she tells you she thought the coat was perfect for you. Don’t hold it up and say it’s longer than you like your coats to be and too puffy and possibly even too warm. Your mother will be dead by spring. That coat will be the last gift she gave you. You will regret the small thing you didn’t say for the rest of your life.
Say thank you.
Yours,
Sugar

Day 4: Hawks

To contact us Click HERE
At the beach in Shizuoka, this man, his dog and I are watching hawks circle a spot on the rocks.
This old man is feeding them pieces of stale bread. He also brought his dog.
He throws the bread into a pile and the hawks swoop down. Is it dangerous? I ask. No, he says. But they're close overhead and they're huge. He asks me where I'm from. America. What am I doing here? Vacation. I used to work in the city. Nice nice.
Do you have a boyfriend he asks? And we continue throwing the bread. Put it between your fingers and fling your wrist, he tells me. Another man soon joins us to watch. Soon, he's out of bread. He collects his dog, gives me lettuce he grew in his garden, and drives off.

Kaleidoscope Celebrates 2 Years and You're Invited!

To contact us Click HERE

Kaleidoscope Bistro and Pub has two reasons to celebrate this season: the restaurant celebrates its 2nd anniversary and its on the same day as Christmas Eve! The globally attuned restaurant wants its guests to come out and enjoy a special three-course meal for $20.12 (see the pun?) Anniversary parties are all about tradition though, so K-Pub will still have its regular menu available along with some awesome drink specials, because what better way is there to celebrate than to raise a glass? The best part, there's no cover charge for this gathering. Dinner service begins at 5 p.m.

Also worth celebrating... if you have great photos of the first two years at Kaleidoscope, be sure to enter the restaurant's Facebook contest - the winner will win dinner for two in January!

Reservations are optional, call 404-474-9600 for more details.
